Old Barracks
Here is another shot from out trip to Hawaii. Jenny and I were on a trip to see the space observatories and stopped here for dinner. The property is an old Army outpost that they used for training purposes.
These barracks just had an interesting look to them. The round shape and window covers make it look like it was built to deal with some bad weather.

This picture is great. I can almost hear and see the Japanese Zeros flying over it on Dec. 7th.
ReplyDeleteFrom what the guide told us they used to do some heavy artillary training where the soldiers on foot were pitted against tanks in exercises that would last for days.
ReplyDeleteThe irony, the guide told us, is that all the army recruits wanted to be stationed in Hawaii. Obviously. But the training experiences turned out to be so challenging and difficult that it was considered one of the worst places to be stationed. I guess they didn't get much time off the bases.
